"Cape
Foulweather" - Oil on Canvas
Cape Foulweather is on the
beautiful Central Oregon coast. There, the Pacific Ocean can
change its mood in a flash. One day I was fortunate to view the
above scene...the edge of a dense cloud formation blowing ashore, the
clearing sky divided from the cloud by a brilliant rainbow, and the
light dancing on the foam and reflecting through translucent wave
tops. It was truly lucky timing to watch this gorgeous
scene unfold and change by the minute. I knew right then
that I would paint this event! What a glorious section of the
Pacific Northwest!
(A side note on this painting: It is painted on stretched canvas mounted on thicker commercial grade stretcher bars. So...the canvas and stretcher bars total about 1 1/2 inches thickness. This enabled me to paint "around the edges". This gives a striking look to original art. So...this painting can be hung without frame, with a shadow-box type frame, or with standard framing.)
